What is SpunMELT Nonwoven
Spunmelt nonwoven also known as SMS, SMMS, or SSMMS nonwoven, is a composite material that combines two key technologies: spunbond and meltblown processes, resulting in a lightweight and breathable nonwoven that offers excellent barrier properties.
Characterized by our spunmelt nonwovens’ excellent fiber distribution, high-performance barrier, balanced MD CD tensile strength, and optimal physical properties, our hydrophobic and hydrophilic spunmelt nonwovens are the key components of adult baby diapers and pants, feminine sanitary napkins, and more.

Our spunmelt nonwovens categories: hydrophobic and hydrophilic, are designed to meet different needs. It is mostly used in hygiene and medical sectors, such as diapers barrier leg leak cuffs, core wrapping, waistband, front ear, backsheets, and more.
SUNREE Hydrophobic SMS, SMMS and SSMMS nonwovens are high hydrostatic pressure resistance, preventing liquid from passing through. It is engineered for softness, breathability, and skin-friendliness, ensuring maximum comfort while maintaining functionality. Ideal for barrier leg leak cuffs, waistband, front ear.
SUNREE Hydrophilic SMMS and SSMMS nonwovens are permanent hydrophilic treated, ideal for absorbent core upper and lower wrapping. It helps maintain the integrity of the absorbent core, preventing superabsorbent polymer or fluff pulp from migrating out of the core while allowing liquid to pass through efficiently.

TECHNOLOGY
It is an integrated one-step process based on spunbond and meltblown technologies. This process is efficient, cost-effective, and versatile.
Leveraging our existing spunmelt technology platform, extensive expertise, and innovation approach, we have developed nonwoven with varying degrees of softness to meet the needs of diverse markets.
When property like superior barrier preventing superabsorbent polymer and fluff pulp leakage is requested, we use our hydrophilic spunmelt technology. With this technology, the absorbent core wrapping can use 8 g/m² nonwoven, which provides enhanced leakage prevention and lower consumption characteristics.
No matter which product you need, we work with a long list of general characteristics of our nonwovens.
Manufacturing Process
It is a long way from resin to nonwoven in a spunbond process and attention to detail in every link of the chain is required.
Raw material preparation, polymer resin and various additives like color masterbatch are the raw materials used in the production of our nonwovens.
Drying and melting, the raw materials are dried to remove moisture and then melted in an extruder to prepare for fiber formation.
Spunbond layer formation, the melted polymer is extruded through spinnerets with numerous small holes, forming continuous filaments. The extruded filaments are cooled using air and then stretched to align the fibers, enhancing their strength. The filaments are laid down on a moving belt to form a web structure.
Meltblown layer formation, the polymer is extruded through a linear die containing small orifices. High-velocity hot air is used to attenuate the molten polymer into fine fibers (1-5µm). The fine fibers are blown onto a collector screen, forming a meltblown web that serves as the middle layer of nonwoven.
Thermal bonding, the web is thermo-bonded using heated rollers to form a final nonwoven with optimum characteristics.
Application of surfactant, for some products, hydrophilic or antistatic properties are desired. This is obtained by in-line application of surfactant.
Cutting and roll-up, The spunmelt nonwoven fabric is scanned by cameras for quality control before being rolled onto shafts in large jumbo rolls, and subsequently slit into the required smaller width rolls and packed according to customer requirements.
